The story goes that Welcome may have come about partly as the result of events in 1893. It seems a lady attending a "protracted meeting" in an adjoining community church shouted out loud as her son responded to the alter call, a definite no-no in church for women of the day. Whether that was the true impetus for starting Welcome or not, the church was established, built, dedicated and a member of the Saluda Association by 1894. And we have been in that same area ever since.
Welcome truly lives up to its name. We open our arms to everyone, so come join us, whether you shout or not!
